Brīvības Street, Ogre
Brīvības Street in Ogre is outstanding with its architecture of the 1920’s–1930’s. Such masters as Vladimirs Šervinskis, Indriķis Blakenburgs, Eduards Smurģis, Dāvids Zariņš, and others have their works here. Nowadays, the majority of these buildings are architectural monuments of national or local importance. The recently facilitated square, which is known also as the heart of the town, has become a popular meeting place among both locals and visitors of Ogre. The square has a stylised design which reflects the tortuous stream of the river Ogre with flowerbeds that symbolises its islands. Local concerts, art and sports events, and other types of entertainment take place at the town square.
